Panama
Our Canal transit began at dusk, taking us late into the night. By the time we got to Lake Gatun, we collapsed after dropping the hook. Crocs are natural residents of the lake, so we skipped the saltwater bathe. Early morning, we awoke to the tumultuous sound of howler monkeys. After raising anchor, we continued our transit until sundown when we had arrived to the Pacific Ocean! We enthusiastically joined 50 other yachtsmen for pizza, celebrating at the Yacht Club in Balboa.
While awaiting our transit date, we toured old garrisons, and studied the pirate treasure.
The boys took a bus trip to Costa Rica for a week of surfing with friends.
